Singer Howard Donald’s Kensington home becoming a reason for neighbours’ anguish

Sometimes adding luxury to your house can also lead to causing misery to your neighbours. A perfect example of this thought is the ongoing construction work at Howard Donald’s townhouse in Kensington. The renovation of “Take That” pop star's Kensington home has been giving the neighbours ample reason to complain and whine about the entire construction work.

The singer has apparently asked builders to dig a new floor in the basement for nanny's quarters and children's playroom. Neighbours of the singer say they have been going through this nuisance and have been bearing with the 'months of noise' right after the pop star asked builders to dig an extra floor under his £4.4million London home.

While the work is in progress to make a living space for a nanny's quarters and a playroom for the singer's two daughters in his four-storey townhouse in Kensington, the amount of money being spent is also quite eye-popping!!! It is believed that the task which involves excavating more than three metres under the townhouse will cost about £250,000.

Neighbours seem to be extremely annoyed with the works going on in the area which is as such said to be a family area but normal family life is almost always on the ruins due to constant construction works going on around. What’s’ even worse is that noise, vibration and dust are very common in especially in the case of basement digging.

You must be wondering if this work is going on without seeking planning permission!! No. Plans were approved way back in 2009. This got revealed when two residents' groups, the Kensington Society and the Earl's Court Society, objected to the work of Mr Donald.

Interestingly, Mr Donald bought this house in Kensington for £3.4million the previous year, since then its value is estimated to have risen by about a whopping £1million.

A newspaper quoted that the singer was 'doing his utmost' as per his spokesman, to minimise the impact on neighbours. Well, it is not very clear what the “utmost” is but we sincerely hope the neighbours get rid of this gripe as soon as possible.
